SW 589 Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in Clinical Social Work Practice

This 3-credit course provides an overview of the theoretical underpinnings and clinical applications of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Students will learn how to implement DBT into their clinical practice with diverse client populations, who present with a range of disorders and psychosocial concerns. The course will teach DBT interventions for addressing issues in individual therapy, as well as the DBT skills usually taught to clients in groups. Case examples, student presentations and role-play will be frequently used.
