HIST 553 Commodities in World History

This course explores how the things we eat, wear, and use connect consumers and producers across the globe. We use social, cultural, economic, environmental, and political approaches to commodities, including: sugar, cotton, bananas, clothing, electronics, and illicit drugs. Students conduct original research on a commodity of their choice.
