Post-Graduate Certificates
Simmons offers online post-graduate certificate programs to prepare current Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to become Family Nurse Practitioners or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. To be eligible for these programs, you must be a licensed, certified APRN with a graduate degree in nursing (MSN or DNP).
In our post-master’s/post-doctoral certificate program, you’ll experience the same innovative learning environment and support services as in the online MSN program, including predictable online course scheduling, clinical placement support, and an on-campus immersion experience.
Post-Graduate Certificate - Family Nurse Practitioner Track
The streamlined Post-Graduate Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner program requires just 23 credits and 756 clinical hours. You can earn your FNP post-graduate certificate online in 16 months. Upon graduating, you will meet the requirements to sit for the national board examinations for FNP certification.
Post-Graduate Certificate - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Track
The streamlined Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program requires just 27 credits and 756 clinical hours. You can earn your PMHNP post-graduate certificate online in as few as 16 months (full-time) or 20 months (part-time). Upon graduating, you will meet the requirements to sit for the ANCC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification exam.
Prerequisites
Applicants who have exceeded two prerequisite retakes (two separate prerequisite course repeats or one prerequisite course repeated twice) within the past 7 years are not eligible to apply. Successfully completed (with a grade of B or better) a three-credit course taught across the lifespan in Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Health Assessment.
