GENST 101CD Introduction to General Studies
This two-credit course serves as an introduction to the Simmons University Complete Degree major in General Studies. General Studies (GENST) is a major that enables students to integrate previous coursework that they have done with the courses required for the GENST major. The required courses in the GENST major are geared towards helping students address current global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective, consider their own social location both in relation to those global concerns and in relation to future career plans, and to develop skills and competencies that are identified as central to personal and professional success. In addition, students will draft a course map for future terms to provide focus to elective selections and optimize the path to degree completion. This introductory course provides the foundation for that work, and introduces students both to Simmons University and to the major.
