WGSS 220 Feminism and Literature
Pairs literature written about (and by) people who identify as women or nonbinary with feminist literary criticism and theory. Feminist literary criticism as a discipline has an avowed relationship to activist practice, and both share an interest in the question of how gender and gender identity shapes experience and opportunity. The course examines the key theoretical debates regarding sex, gender and literary tradition, and interrogates the relationship between feminist literary criticism, authorship, and the feminist project writ large.
