Dual Degree in Engineering
Students in the five year dual-degree Engineering program earn a Bachelor of Science from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from one of our partner institutions. As of Fall 2024, our partner institutions are: Columbia University, Washington University in St. Louis, and Wentworth Institute of Technology.
In addition to the requirements of the Simmons University core curriculum and their major, students must meet the entrance requirements of the partner institution. These requirements cover physics, math, chemistry, and computer science, plus a few courses for specific engineering majors as specified in the respective program guides of each institution. Detailed questions concerning requirements of individual majors can be discussed with the Engineering 3+2 Program Director, Jason White, at Simmons.
During their time at Simmons, students major in a field that strongly overlaps the entrance requirements for the partner institution and earn a Bachelor of Science. Examples of these majors include Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, and Physics.
At the partner Institution, students choose from engineering areas of study that lead to a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. Those areas include:
Columbia University
- Biomedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics
- Earth & Environmental Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Washington University in St. Louis
- Biomedical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Systems Science & Engineering
Wentworth Institute of Technology
- Biological Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Electromechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Upon completion of the program, students receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Simmons University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the partner institution.
