Management (MS)

The Master of Science in Management (MSM) at Simmons University is a flexible, values-driven graduate program designed to prepare emerging professionals for leadership roles across industries. The program builds foundational knowledge in management, data-informed decision-making, and organizational strategy, equipping students with the skills to manage complex projects and lead with purpose.

Through a combination of applied coursework and real-world learning experiences, students gain practical skills that translate directly to professional settings. The program is designed to enhance career readiness for individuals with diverse academic backgrounds, including those with limited prior business experience.
Students may tailor their studies through optional concentrations and certificates, including areas such as nonprofit management and business and leadership in women’s sports, allowing for focused preparation aligned with their career goals.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Master of Science in Management will be able to: 

  • Develop and implement plans to manage complex projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Formulate data-informed strategies to support organizational, product, and operational innovation.
  • Analyze internal and external organizational data using appropriate quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Identify organizational issues through the interpretation of relevant data and evidence.
  • Develop and defend recommendations based on analysis of internal and external data.
  • Analyze the impact of gender identity on power, management practices, and decision-making in organizations.
  • Apply strategies to navigate gender bias and gendered power dynamics to achieve professional goals.

Requirements for Entry into the Program

Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, achieving at least a B (3.0) average.

MSM Concentrations

Students in the Master of Science in Management (MSM) program may choose to focus their studies by pursuing a degree concentration aligned with their professional interests and career goals. Concentrations are designed to prepare students for leadership roles in specific industries through specialized coursework. Students who choose to concentrate their studies must complete the core courses required of all MSM students as well as a sequence of courses required to earn the degree concentration.

Nonprofit Management Concentration

Students in this concentration, in addition to completing the three course core, pursue 25 credits of coursework that combines business foundations with advanced nonprofit strategy and leadership.

Business and Leadership in Women’s Sports Concentration

In addition to completing the three course MSM core, students in this concentration will complete a required 3-credit Women's Sports foundational course and 22 additional credits selected from the program's elective offerings.
